Hi my friends ~ Welcome to RosinaWilson.com’s very first “BUZZbit”!
What’s a BUZZbit, you ask? Well, it’s basically a quick mini-post that I can put together for you *right away.* Such as when I’ve just tasted a wonderful wine, or found a great food market, or cooked a new recipe ~ I’ll bring it to you in a BUZZbit.
I’ll also post BUZZbits to preview upcoming events, and to update you on happenings that I cover in greater detail in my “WineFoodBUZZ” newsletter.
*********************************************************************
As you’ll see in Part 2 of my January 2011 issue of WineFoodBuzz, my wonderful daughter Siri recently came for a visit. Siri lives in Brooklyn, NY, where she owns (and makes one-of-a-kind clothing and jewelry for) a cool-yet-cozy boutique called Treehouse. Her creations, which have been featured in lots of print and online publications, and even on CNN, are also available in specialty shops as far away as Japan. (Um, can you tell what a proud Mom I am?)

Whenever Siri visits me (or, for that matter, when I visit her), we always make tasty food and wine (plus beer, saké, etc.) a major focus of our dining adventures. Sometimes we’ll splurge on something fancy (such as foie gras sushi at Hana, a Japanese restaurant in Sonoma County that we both love), but most of what we go for is just plain good.
Such as Taqueria San Jose, near home in San Rafael, where we like to stop for lunch. (Siri often orders the (truly) giant burrito, and I usually get the carnitas tacos, which I smother in green tomatillo salsa.)
One of our favorite breakfast places, Half Day Café in Kentfield (Marin County), makes terrific omelets, and serves their lattes in big round mugs, European style.
Siri hand-crochets these gorgeous, one-of-a-kind necklaces out of vintage chain for her jewelry line, Sirius Lux.
And in the Mission District of San Francisco, at a Venezuelan “Maize Kitchen” called Pica Pica, we chowed down on delicious grilled, stuffed corn cakes called “arepas,” and quenched our thirst with some icy draft beer.
You’ll find the full story (with a video showing some of our tastiest food finds) in WineFoodBUZZ (Issue 1, Part 2). The newsletter is free to sign up, and after you’ve subscribed, you’ll receive each new issue automatically!)
Until next time, my friends ~
Cheers,
Rosina
