Opening scene from the “Julia Child Remixed” PBS video, “Keep On Cooking.” You’ll love it!

Welcome back, my friends – and Happy Drink Wine With Dinner® Day!

I hope you’re joining me today in a birthday toast to Julia Child.

Happy Birthday, dear Julia – Happy 104th!

Well, PBS has done something *so* cool for Julia’s birthday that I’m letting it pre-empt my Drink Wine With Dinner® menu for tonight, which I had planned to share with you here.

(from "Julia Child Remixed") – "What makes a great chef? Well, training and technique of course..."

“What makes a great chef? Well, training and technique of course…” (From “Julia Child Remixed”)

I’ll save that menu for tomorrow’s post.

For now, though, I have a real treat for you.

Who knew that the Queen of Cuisine could “sing” this amazing remix from her PBS shows?

It’s a zany, yet tender digital mashup, with Julia’s voice autotuned to the catchy melody.

With upbeat electronic music, “Keep On Cooking” samples and stitches together wonderful Julia moments from her PBS shows.

"Bring on the roasted potatoes – bring on the Montrachet" (from "Julia Child Remixed")

“Bring on the roasted potatoes – bring on the Montrachet” (from “Julia Child Remixed”)

From the “Hot Chocolate Truffles” opening to the final “Cook and cook and keep on cooking, This is the way to eat… Bon Appétit!” – the remix captures Julia’s passion, her mirth, and her sheer delight in sharing the pleasures of her kitchen with the world.

Check out the complete lyrics, with stills from the video, below…

“Keep On Cooking,” by the way, was produced for PBS by John D. Boswell, of Symphony of Science fame. His similar projects feature such icons as Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, Bob Ross and Mister Rogers.

"Hot chocolate truffles – meltingly delicious..." (from J"ulia Child Remixed")

“Hot chocolate truffles – meltingly delicious…”

This might just be the most delightful (and most nostalgic!) four minutes of your day.

Here are the complete lyrics (both spoken and sung) to Julia Child Remixed – “Keep On Cooking.”

The clickable video is at bottom…

Enjoy – and Bon Appétit!

(Julia’s spoken intro):
“What makes a great chef? Well, training and technique, of course,
plus a great love of food, a generous personality, and… the ability to invent…
Hot Chocolate Truffles!

"As long as the dough is relaxed, it's ready to roll (ready to roll, ready to roll)"...

“As long as the dough is relaxed, it’s ready to roll (ready to roll)”…

(Music begins):

(Julia “sings”):
Meltingly addictive
(Hot chocolate truffles)
Balls of creamy chocolate filling

That are rolled in fresh crumbs.
Let’s have another piece…
As long as the dough is relaxed,
It’s ready to roll, ready to roll…
(Let’s have another piece.)
(Ready to roll, ready to roll…)

Freshness is essential
That makes all the difference
I like to smell something cooking
Makes me feel at home…

Bring on the roasted potatoes!
Bring on the Montrachet!
This is what good cooking is all about
This is what good cooking is all about

(Two-handed knife solo…) 😉

"You can’t define these in a recipe – You can only know them – By knowing how the food should taste…"

“You can’t define these in a recipe – You can only know them – By knowing how the food should taste…”

I like sour cream cheese filling
And a sweet topping
All on that crisp pastry…

You can’t define these in a recipe
You can only know them
By knowing how the food should taste…
A blend of oil, fresh lime juice,
Fresh ginger and fish sauce…
You need some fat in your diet
Or your body can’t process your vitamins

Freshness is essential
That makes all the difference
I like to smell something cooking
Makes me feel at home…

Bring on the roasted potatoes!
Bring on the Montrachet!
This is what good cooking is all about
This is what good cooking is all about…

Freshness is essential – That makes all the difference – I like to smell something cooking – Makes me feel at home...

Freshness is essential – That makes all the difference – I like to smell something cooking – Makes me feel at home…

Cook and cook and keep on cooking
This is the way to live

Cook and cook and keep on cooking
This is the way to eat –
Bon appetit!

(Two-handed knife solo…) 😉

The real test of a good chef
Is a perfectly roasted chicken
The lemons, the garlic, the rosemary –

What a treat! (what a treat)
(Rosemary, rosemary)
Full, rich and creamy, suspended in its sauce
You have to watch it – don’t let it cook too long…
Beat it up a little bit, just to soften it

(Rolling pin solo…) 😉

"Beat it up a little bit" – Julia's rolling pin solo

“Beat it up a little bit” – Julia’s fast, tough, rough rolling pin solo

Fast and tough and rough;
Now let’s show you how you do it

Beat it up a little bit, just to soften it

(Rolling pin solo…) 😉

Chop it, fold it, roll it
Fast and tough and rough

Freshness is essential
That makes all the difference
I like to smell something cooking
Makes me feel at home…

Bring on the roasted potatoes!
Bring on the Montrachet!
This is what good cooking is all about
This is what good cooking is all about…

"Cook and cook and keep on cooking – This is the way to eat – Bon appetit!"

“Cook and cook and keep on cooking This is the way to eat – Bon appétit!”

Cook and cook and keep on cooking
This is the way to live
Cook and cook and keep on cooking

Everyone gather round the dinner table
Cook and cook and keep on cooking
This is the way to live
Cook and cook and keep on cooking
This is the way to eat –

Bon appetit!
