The two major February wine events that I look forward to each year ~ namely, the International Alsace Varietals Festival in the Anderson Valley of Mendocino (above and right), and the Pinot Noir Summit in San Francisco (scroll down) ~ both brought amazing opportunities, as always, to taste dozens of world-class, “best of breed” wines.

I’m quite happy with traditional Carbonara. But since I love to “play with my food” (thanks, Mom, for *never* telling me not to!), I prefer to try out some new twist on the classic Carbonara recipe every time I put a batch together.
